McGill in Freck Memorial Success
And just like that, our 2025 season is COMPLETE. Saturday 8th November epitomised what we try to do at HRP Lochgelly – Delivering exciting racing in a family friendly environment, with a great deal of fun mixed in as well.

The racing delivered on Saturday. Every formula, every race had some form of excitement, a great battle or tit-for-tat racing with little between much of the cars, delivering all round entertainment.

It was our annual charity night where we offered passenger experiences & enabled others to take to the track in mechanics & ladies races – all in the name of raising funds for our charity partners. It was a huge success with lots of smiles, a few competition cautions, and a great deal of money raised – Just over £6,700 was raised, with the promotion rounding it upto £7,000 – ensuring that £1,750 is donated to each of our four charity partners.

On track, there was lots to race for with titles in all four formula. An influx of visiting drivers across each of the formula bolstered numbers.

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars raced in their much sought after Michelle Freck Memorial event – one that many of our drivers would love to win. Charlie Henry has had a strong season and took a deserving victory in the opening heat of the night, before Stewart Paterson took a win in heat 2. The meeting final, and memorial race was an exciting race with plenty of hard hitting, action packed racing. A field split with 2 great battles – one up front, and one in the midfield left the punters not knowing what to look out for. Stewart Paterson took an early lead and looked reasonably comfortable up front before a race caution was called for – Pies, perhaps a little rusty, floored it upon the restart as soon as the pace car was off the track and was promptly shown the dreaded black cross. A few laps in, and Dean McGill was on the bumper of the 46 car and soon moved into the lead of the race, without too much fight from Paterson. Paterson would cross the line in second ahead of Joshua Machin and Kevin Graham, though, a docking for a jump start would see him drop out of the podium places. Dean McGill looked delighted on his lap of honour as he waved to the crowd and kissed the Michelle Freck Memorial Shield.

The Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts seen around 30 karts take to the track with each of the drivers competing in 2 out of the 3 qualifying heats before an all in final. There were a few stoppages along throughout the night, but the youngsters drove excellently on a difficult track with a few damp spots and a greasy surface. Rudi Arcari drove a phenomenal race in the opening heat – leading the way until the last few laps where George Cooper overcame him to take the win – Arcari took second ahead of George Whyte in his brand new kart. Heat 2 would see youngster Harley Wilson take the win, holding on excellently from Jaxon Cairns who followed closely for large parts of the race, with George Cooper completing the top 3.The third and final heat seen Jaxon Cairns take the win, with Johnny Wheeler and Harley Flegg completing the top 3. After the points were collated, the grid was formed for the Scottish Masters race, with the top scoring drivers at the front end of the grid. It was an excellent first few laps, with George Cooper managing to break clear of the pack behind. The battle for second continued throughout the race with the drivers swapping on numerous occasions. It was Parker Smith though that came through to take second from a starting position quite far back, with Wheeler completing the top 3. Thanks to all the Ninja Kart teams for making the trip and joining us at Lochgelly Raceway.

The Superstox formula raced for the Mick Taylor Lochgelly Masters. There was also a dash for cash at the end of the meeting for the formula, sponsored by Great Dane Welfare Scotland. The Superstox were in great form, with hard hitting action throughout each of the three races – Curtis Tebbenham found his feet and drove well in the formula. Adam Low took the win in the opening heat and wasn’t far away from making it a double, as Aaron Riddell pipped him in the closing stages of heat 2. Bryan Forrest took the win in the Lochgelly Masters race, finishing ahead of Aaron Riddell and Adam Low. The Dash race seen the bumpers go in from the outset, with a few cars spinning in the opening laps. Curtis Tebbenham led the way for the majority of the race, before Riddell moved through and into the lead, followed by Callum Kelman.

The ORCi Ministox completed the line up, and we welcomed Charlie Lomas with us once more. Jason Bain also made his first outing of the season at Lochgelly Raceway. There would be no stopping David Philp though, as he raced to an excellent hat-trick of victories on the night, taking the HRP Disco Trophy in the process.
