Riddell Claims Super Scottish
It was the 2025 Superstox Scottish Championship on Saturday 27th September at Lochgelly Raceway, sponsored by Marchstone Developments.

Four races were held on the night, with the Scottish Championship being race one for the Superstox formula. An out the hat grid draw would determine the grid for the race, with Aaron Riddell and David Lumsden starting on the front row. As the green flags dropped, the bumpers went in as the drivers tried to dispose of their rivals at the earliest opportunity on the slippery surface. David Lumsden led the way on the opening lap, before he was overcome by Aaron Riddell and Kenny McKenzie, with Bryan Forrest also in close contention. On the third lap, Forrest would find himself pointing the wrong way, though quickly recovered losing only a position or two. Up front, McKenzie and Riddell raced bumper to bumper and side by side for long periods, with the two taking different racing lines around the wet track. A mistake from McKenzie seen Riddell open up a gap that allowed him to focus on his own line – rather than looking in the mirror expecting a hit, and raced away to victory to claim the Scottish Championship. Kenny McKenzie crossed the line in second, whilst Bryan Forrest recovered to finish in third. In the following heats, there would be no catching Danny Whyte who was dominant from the yellow grade, but two race wins would see him move up to blue for the meeting final, to which Bryan Forrest took the win ahead of Gary Chisolm and Craig Stephen.

The ORCi Ministox were in action for the first time since their National Championship weekend in August. Jamie Balfour made the most of things as he raced to a hat-trick of race wins. The Ministox final had an epic race for 9th and 10th positions, as David Philp and Stuart Shevill battled throughout the race for long periods until Philp force Shevill wide and into the wall to open up a gap to him behind. Bailey Wilson had a strong showing in the wet conditions taking away 2 runners up spots, whilst Shaun Boyle and Owen Marshall also impressed on the night. Jamie Balfour will claim a tyre for his efforts on the night, courtesy of WMH Developments.

The Stock Rods were down on numbers somewhat, with a few drivers missing out for a variety of reasons. Robbie Armit and Lee McGill were never far away from each other all night, and raced bumper to bumper for almost every lap of every race, with Armit and McGill crossing the line first and second in all three races – though the pair were both penalised for jump starts in the meeting final, allowing Gary Dean to inherit the race win ahead of Daniel Davidson. It was the final round of the APEX Garden Building Series for the Stock Rod formula, with prizes ultimately going the way of Teri Linden, Kyle Hutchison, Fraser Andrews and Gary Dean.

The 2.0 Hot Rods seen Ryan Mackie and Ryan Adamson make welcome returns to the formula after a period on the sidelines. Craig Mason raced to victory in the opening heat, finishing ahead of Charlie Hardie and Ryan Adamson. Heat 2 would see Hardie take the win ahead of Mason and Allan Gibson, who was out in the borrowed Jack MacLeod car. The final seen Hardie lead home Gibson and Adamson. The 2.0s race for their Scottish Championship this week – with Keith Brown having sat out recently, will he aim to defend his title? Join us next week to find out!

The National Hot Rods completed the line up of formula, with Chevy Mills taking a double heat win before Alexander claimed the meeting final. Barry Stephen seen his night go up in smoke in the meeting final as his engine went bang midway through the race.
